Torrevieja: His family got a call from the Spanish police just before 5 PM UK time. They said they found a body, and it’s likely John George’s.

Though they still need to confirm it officially, they believe it’s him based on his clothes and tattoos. John had been missing since December 14.

DNA tests will be done to make sure it’s really him. His family is understandably upset and needs some time to process everything.

They’re preparing to bring him back to Northern Ireland for burial. KRW Law, representing the family, mentioned they hope this long search is finally over.

Billy George, John’s father, was informed that his son’s body is in a morgue, waiting for formal identification. The family feels both distressed and relieved.

They want to thank everyone who supported them during this tough time and are asking for privacy as they deal with the next steps in this heartbreaking situation.

Billy had said he wouldn’t leave Spain without his son’s body. He expressed how much he misses John’s smile and promised his grandsons he’d bring him home.

John’s disappearance has been in the news for weeks. He had mentioned going to Spain for a friend’s business opening but vanished after talking to his dad on December 14.

He was supposed to fly home on December 18 but never made it. His family started an online appeal for information, worried because it was so unlike him not to call.

As time passed, they began to fear the worst. Recently, one suspect linked to John’s case called the family, claiming he had been shot and left somewhere between Torrevieja and Benidorm.

This suspect alleged that a gun was used in the murder and that it was taken away to be cleaned. Spanish police are investigating several suspects, including one from the Czech Republic.

The main suspects are reportedly blaming each other and won’t reveal where John’s body is. The PSNI has been in close contact with John’s family and other law enforcement agencies.

A volunteer search team from Northern Ireland also went to Spain to help but returned home over the weekend. More updates are expected soon.
