Jurors have retired to deliberate in the rape trial of rapper Slowthai, who faces serious allegations alongside a co-defendant.
Oxford: So, the jury’s off to think about their decision in the Slowthai trial. The rapper, whose real name is Tyron Frampton, and his buddy Alex Blake-Walker are facing some heavy accusations. They’re accused of raping two women at a party after a gig back in September 2021.
They were in court at Oxford Crown, denying all charges. The judge wrapped things up on Thursday after a two-week trial, telling the jurors it was time to deliberate.
During the trial, it came out that Slowthai had performed at The Bullingdon venue that night. After the show, the two women went to his tour bus and then headed to a friend’s house for a party, where Slowthai and Blake-Walker joined in.
Things took a turn when they all ended up on the roof of the house, where the alleged incidents happened. The prosecution claims Blake-Walker raped one woman while Slowthai encouraged him, and then Slowthai allegedly raped the other woman twice.
Both men admit they had some sort of sexual activity with the women but insist it was consensual. Slowthai even mentioned they “fist-bumped” during the night but said that wasn’t encouragement.
And that’s where we are now—the jury is still out, literally, as they consider their verdict.
