Dr. Patrick Hart received a 12-month jail sentence for vandalism during a Just Stop Oil protest at a petrol station in Grays
Grays: Dr. Patrick Hart, a 38-year-old GP from Bristol, just got a 12-month sentence. This happened at Chelmsford Crown Court after he took part in a Just Stop Oil protest back in August 2022.
He was found guilty of criminal damage last October. Hart went a bit wild at the Thurrock Motorway Services, hitting petrol pumps with a hammer and spraying them with orange paint.
He and a few other activists blocked access to the petrol station, which was a big no-no since they broke a High Court injunction. The repairs for the damage? A hefty £9,376, according to Essex County Council.
In court, Hart called his actions an “act of care” and said he wouldn’t take it back. Now, he’s got to deal with a tribunal from the General Medical Council, which oversees doctors.
This isn’t his first run-in with the law. Earlier this year, he made headlines for invading the pitch at Twickenham during the Premiership Rugby final, throwing orange cornflour everywhere.
