The charity aims for 50,000 participants to tackle litter across Scotland this spring
Edinburgh: Keep Scotland Beautiful is on a mission. They want 50,000 folks to join in for the 2025 litter pick. Last year, they had 45,000 participants, and they’re aiming to beat that record.
The Spring Clean event is set for March 21 to April 21. Everyone in Scotland is invited to roll up their sleeves and help out. It’s a great way to come together and tackle the litter problem.
A recent report showed that 72% of the places checked were littered. That’s a big deal! Plus, 87% of people think litter is a real issue in Scotland. It’s clear we need to do something.
Barry Fisher, the chief executive, pointed out how serious the litter situation is. But he also mentioned that people really want to help. Over 80% want to see more action to clean up their neighborhoods.
Last year’s Spring Clean was a hit, with thousands joining in from every local area. This year marks the charity’s 25th anniversary, so they’re aiming high. They want this to be the biggest and best Spring Clean ever!
There’s also a Litter League for young people, starting March 17 and running until April 21. Schools and youth groups can join in and compete for some fun prizes.
Businesses are encouraged to get involved too. Whether big or small, they can organize litter picks and support their communities. If you’re feeling inspired, check out their website for more info and to sign up.
