A shocking incident at Colchester Zoo left children terrified as a rhino killed a zebra in front of onlookers
Colchester: So, there was this really shocking scene at Colchester Zoo yesterday. Kids were just watching when a rhino suddenly attacked and killed a zebra. Can you imagine how terrifying that must have been?
The whole thing went down in an outdoor area where different animals hang out together. It’s a mixed habitat with giraffes, zebras, rhinos, and more. Visitors said they had seen the rhinos chasing the zebras just before the incident.
After the tragedy, zoo staff quickly cleared the area to keep everyone safe. A spokesperson mentioned that they were really sad about the loss and were focusing on making sure the other animals were okay.
One visitor shared on Facebook how they had just seen the rhinos and zebras playing around before being asked to leave. They had no idea something so awful had happened. Another person who witnessed it said it was just heartbreaking to see.
The enclosure where this happened has been around since 2001 and is home to a variety of animals. It’s just so sad that something like this occurred.
