Mark Woolley, who murdered Elizabeth Sherlock, has died in prison from cancer
London: A tragic story unfolded when Mark Woolley, a murderer, ran over Elizabeth Sherlock while she tried to stop him from stealing her handbag. This incident happened back in 2001, and it ended with Woolley using her bank card to buy drugs after the horrific act.
Woolley, who was 58, passed away from cancer in February last year while serving time at HMP Wayland. He had been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of the 42-year-old costume designer near Euston station.
It all started when Woolley’s partner grabbed Mrs. Sherlock’s designer bag and jumped into their car. She bravely chased after them and even jumped on the car as it sped away. Sadly, Woolley didn’t stop; he drove off, throwing her into the air and running her over.
As she lay there injured, he abandoned the car and used her bank card to withdraw cash for drugs. The judge at his trial expressed disgust at Woolley’s actions, highlighting the lack of humanity he showed towards Mrs. Sherlock.
Woolley was sentenced to life with a minimum of 16 years but was released on license in 2017. However, he later went on the run, breaching his conditions. He was caught in Hackney and sent back to prison, where he received good medical care until his death.
He died on February 5 last year, leaving behind a story that still shocks many.
