King Charles expresses deep sorrow over the tragic death of Edward Pettifer in a New Orleans vehicle attack on New Year’s Day
New Orleans: King Charles is heartbroken after a British man lost his life in a tragic vehicle attack on New Year’s Day. Edward Pettifer, just 31, was killed when a pickup truck crashed into a crowd on Bourbon Street, leaving many injured and at least 14 dead.
Edward was the stepson of Alexandra Pettifer, known as Tiggy, who used to care for Prince William and Prince Harry. His family described him as a wonderful person who will be deeply missed.
The coroner confirmed that Edward died from blunt force injuries. His family is being supported by police as they prepare to bring him back to the UK.
Edward was the eldest son of Charles Pettifer, a former Coldstream Guards officer. His half-brother even played a role in William and Kate’s wedding. The news of his death has reached Prince William, who is said to be aware of the tragedy.
Authorities believe the attack was carried out by Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old army veteran. The FBI is treating it as an act of terrorism, especially after finding an ISIS flag and weapons in the truck.
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced a foundation to help the victims and emphasized the need for increased safety measures. President Joe Biden mentioned that the attacker had posted a video indicating he was inspired by ISIS.
World leaders, including UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, have condemned the violence, expressing their condolences to the victims and their families during this tragic time.
