Dritan Rexhepi, the notorious drug lord, has been captured after evading justice for nearly three decades, facing multiple serious charges in Albania.
London: So, guess what? Dritan Rexhepi, the infamous “King of Cocaine,” has finally been caught after 27 years on the run. This guy was wanted in four countries and had a serious rap sheet, including the murder of two police officers. Can you believe it?
He was extradited from Turkey to Albania, where armed police were waiting for him. Footage showed him being escorted onto a plane, handcuffed and all. It’s wild to think he managed to stay ahead of the law for so long.
Rexhepi was known for his crazy prison escapes, even more than El Chapo! He was linked to a massive cocaine trafficking network that connected Colombia to Europe. This dude was no joke.
Back in the ’90s, he was already suspected of being a hitman. He even tried to turn his life around by going to law school, but that didn’t last long. He got caught with an unlicensed gun and staged a dramatic escape from police custody.
He was sentenced in absentia for the murders of the two officers but kept evading capture. It’s like he was playing a game of cat and mouse with the police. He claimed he turned to drug trafficking because he felt wronged by the justice system. Talk about a twisted logic!
Rexhepi built a huge drug empire, rivaling some of the biggest cartels out there. His gang, Kompania Bello, was known for controlling the entire cocaine supply chain. They were smart, using encrypted communication and laundering money through various methods.
Even while in prison, he was still pulling strings and overseeing operations. But in 2020, his gang was finally taken down by Europol, and he was released in 2021. He then vanished, only to be arrested in Turkey last November.
Now, he’s back in Albania, facing a long list of charges. It’s about time he faced the music for all those years of crime!
