Lancashire’s new Combined County Authority is a reality, transferring power and funds to local leaders for regional improvement.
The new group, CCA, is the first move. Central government will pass powers to Lancashire. Local leaders will gain added powers, allowing them to address transport and jobs, and improve the economy.
CCA gives the whole county a voice and lets Lancashire promote its concerns. It also gives the county more influence. The county, Blackburn, and Blackpool worked together to make this new organization happen.
The first CCA meeting is March 11 in Preston. Council leaders form the new board: Phil Riley, Phillipa Williamson, Lynn Williams, Alan Vincent, Alistair Bradley, Stephen Atkinson, and Mo Isap.
Riley said Parliament established the new authority and the councils worked together well. This is a big step for Lancashire’s people, giving them powers and money closer to home.
Williamson said she is happy about the CCA, stating that it is now its own thing. This benefits the area’s residents and businesses, and they will bring more power to Lancashire.
