Six drivers, including a Land Rover owner, were rescued from a treacherous mountain pass during a blizzard in the Lake District
Lake District: Over the weekend, a Land Rover driver found themselves stuck on a perilous mountain pass. They weren’t alone, as five other drivers were also stranded in the icy conditions.
Police jumped into action to rescue everyone trapped in the snow at Wrynose Pass. It was around 1:05 PM when the officers arrived to help. One photo showed a Land Rover Defender awkwardly perched with a wheel off the ground.
Another vehicle was spotted further up the narrow road. Thankfully, all the drivers were safely escorted away after the police arrived, according to reports.
But it wasn’t just Wrynose Pass facing trouble. Other roads in the area, like Hardknott Pass and Cold Fell, were also closed due to the icy weather, as noted by Cumberland Council.
Met Office meteorologist Greg Dewhurst warned that heavy rain, snow, and ice were still a risk across many parts of the UK. He mentioned that significant snowfall could hit parts of England and Wales, especially in the higher areas.
