West Mercia Police report a troubling increase in Land Rover thefts as gangs seek high-value vehicles for illegal profit
West Mercia: It seems like Land Rover thefts are on the rise lately. Police are saying that thieves are really after these high-value vehicles.
They’ve noticed that these cars are often stolen to order. Criminals are stripping them down and shipping the parts abroad for a pretty penny.
A spokesperson from the police mentioned that there’s a big demand for these vehicles in places like Eastern Europe and Africa. It’s a bit alarming, to be honest.
In fact, just recently, a Blue Land Rover Defender was taken from Hanley Swan. And there was another theft at Bredon Village Hall, where a car was gone within an hour of being parked!
To keep your Land Rover safe, the police suggest a few things. Installing a tracking device or using a steering lock can help. Security bollards in your driveway are also a good idea.
They recommend investing in a ghost immobiliser and using a Faraday bag for your keys. Plus, having security lighting and video doorbells can make a difference.
West Mercia Police are urging everyone to stay alert. If you see anything suspicious, don’t hesitate to call 999. For non-emergencies, you can reach out via 101 or their website.
