London: Today, Lea Bridge Station is in a bit of a pickle. There are loads of delays and cancellations because of a track defect. It’s been a real hassle for commuters.

Network Rail has said that the issues stem from a points failure. For those who don’t know, points are those movable bits of track that let trains switch lines. So, when they go wrong, it can really mess things up.

Right now, the affected routes include Bishops Stortford to Stratford, Hertford East to Stratford, and Meridian Water to Stratford. Trains to Bishops Stortford are completely suspended, and those to Hertford East are cancelled. There’s a limited service running between Meridian Water and Stratford, but trains to London Liverpool Street are still on track.

If you’re trying to get between Stratford and Tottenham Hale, Network Rail suggests taking a detour via London Liverpool Street. Your tickets will still be valid there, which is a small relief.

For those heading to Lea Bridge, you can hop on a bus for free. The 97 bus from Stratford to Bakers Arms lets you switch to the 55 or 56 bus to get to Lea Bridge, or you can just take the 55 to Tottenham Hale.

It’s a bit of a mess, but hang in there! You can find more info on the situation or use TfL’s Journey Planner to help you navigate.
