Two suspects in the Liam Payne case have chosen not to testify during questioning, raising questions about the ongoing investigation.
Buenos Aires: So, it looks like two guys who were called in for questioning about Liam Payne’s tragic death have decided to keep quiet. They’re not saying a word during their interviews, which is pretty interesting.
These two, Braian Nahuel Paiz and a former hotel worker, told the judge they’re “retaining their right to remain silent.” This all went down on December 17, according to some reports from Argentina.
They’re part of a group of five suspects who might find out early next year if they’ll face charges related to Liam’s death back in October when he was just 31.
Judge Laura Bruniard has a deadline of 10 days after questioning to decide if they should be charged or if the case should just be dropped.
Paiz, who works as a waiter, even went on local TV last month to deny any involvement. He insisted he didn’t give Liam any drugs or take money from him. He said they met a couple of times at the hotel before the tragic fall.
He claimed it was all pretty normal, saying Liam came down to find him because he got lost. Sounds like a wild situation, right?
The other suspect hasn’t said much since the news broke that he’s under investigation. The questioning is set to wrap up tomorrow, December 19, when the last three suspects will be interviewed.
Liam was pronounced dead on October 16 after emergency services were called about a man who seemed to be under the influence. Early toxicology reports showed he had multiple substances in his system.
During the investigation, it was revealed that three people were charged with serious crimes related to his death, including abandonment and drug supply. It’s a tough situation all around.
Liam’s funeral took place on November 20, and his former One Direction bandmates were there to pay their respects, along with family and friends like James Corden. It’s just heartbreaking.
