Newton Aycliffe: Exciting news! A Lifeline Community Hub is on the way, taking over the old Woolworths building. This spot has been empty since 2009, so it’s about time it gets a new purpose.

Work has kicked off, and it’s all about helping folks in need. Lifeline Community Action has been around since 2010, providing essential services to many in the area. They’ve seen a big rise in demand lately, especially from working families struggling to make ends meet.

Last year, they helped over 18,500 people, and they expect that number to hit 20,000 by 2025. That’s a lot of folks needing support! The new hub will give them six times more space than they currently have, which is a game changer.

They’re teaming up with local organizations and the council to make this happen. It’s a big project, and they still need to raise about £100,000 to finish it off. But everyone’s excited about the potential it has to bring the community together.

Pauline Chambers from Lifeline said they’re determined to make this work, even though it’s tough to gather the funds. The new hub will have a community kitchen and pantry, making it a real lifeline for everyone in the area.

Sergeant Andy Boyd mentioned how this project has been in the works for six years. He’s thrilled to see it finally coming together, as it’ll provide a central place for people to get help and support.

If you want to pitch in and help out, they’re looking for donations. You can call them at 07936431262. Every little bit counts!
