A tragic attack in New Orleans has left multiple casualties as police investigate the scene on Bourbon Street following a deadly incident.
New Orleans: So, there was this really awful incident on Bourbon Street. A car drove into a crowd, and sadly, 15 people lost their lives while many others got hurt.
The guy behind the wheel, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, was shot and killed by the police. Before the attack, he posted some videos that hinted at his support for ISIS, which is pretty alarming.
This all went down around 3:15 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Jabbar managed to get past police barriers and drove right into the crowd celebrating the new year.
Police mentioned that his actions seemed very deliberate. During the chaos, two officers were injured in a shootout with him, but thankfully, they’re in stable condition now.
Authorities are looking into whether Jabbar had any accomplices, as they don’t think he acted alone. It’s a tough situation, and the investigation is ongoing.
