A lively discussion among London commuters reveals the top Tube seat choice, highlighting preferences and practical considerations for travelers.
London: Most days, finding a seat on the Tube feels like a miracle. But when you do get a chance to choose, where do you sit?
This question popped up when Olamide Grace, a Tube passenger, shared a video on Instagram. It kicked off a fun debate about the best seat on the train. Two seats were hot contenders, but only one could take the crown.
Olamide started by weighing the pros and cons of different spots. She talked about the seat next to the door and the glass shield. It’s nice because you only sit next to one person, and you can lean your head on the window. But then again, think about all the germs you’re collecting! Plus, you’re close to the door, which is good in case of emergencies.
While many folks liked the end seat, they also felt it should go to those who really need it. Olamide mentioned that the middle seat has its perks too. You get both armrests, but it can be a hassle with people stepping on your shoes. And if someone hogs both armrests, you’re stuck feeling squished.
She also brought up the ledge. Do you sit on it or stand? It’s tricky because your legs end up dangling like Humpty Dumpty!
Then she talked about the “sticky” pole and asked her followers about the sneaky little ledge by the door. Many thought that ledge was the best-kept secret, calling it “underrated.”
One commenter said, “The corner seat is the best. You get the door, a window for fresh air, and it’s less crowded.” Another added, “100% the ledge! You don’t have to worry about giving up your seat, and you’re first to hop off.”
Some locals also praised the seat next to the door, but they reminded everyone it’s a priority seat for those who need it more. One passenger said, “Definitely that seat! I can rest my head if I’m tired without worrying about leaning on someone.”
Another chimed in, “That seat is awesome, but you’ve got to be ready to give it up for someone who really needs it.”
