Tyrin Truong, the 25-year-old mayor of Bogalusa, was released on bond after being arrested for drug trafficking and soliciting prostitutes
Bogalusa: So, you won’t believe what just happened with the mayor of Bogalusa. Tyrin Truong, who’s only 25, got arrested for some serious stuff—drug trafficking and soliciting prostitutes. Can you imagine?
He was taken in by the Louisiana State Police after a long investigation that lasted about nine months. After posting a hefty $150,000 bond, he walked out of jail on Tuesday. Talk about a wild turn of events!
Truong became mayor just last year, promising to clean up the city and make it safer. But now, it seems like those promises are falling apart. He’s facing multiple charges, including using a movable object without permission and dealing with drug money.
It’s kind of shocking, right? He was supposed to be the fresh face of change, but now he’s linked to a drug ring that’s been causing a lot of trouble in the area. They say the group was using social media to sell drugs like opioids and high-grade marijuana.
And get this—profits from those drug sales were allegedly used to buy guns for people who shouldn’t even have them. It’s a mess! Six other people were arrested along with him, all from Bogalusa.
Local officials are not happy about this. Louisiana’s Attorney General made it clear that they won’t tolerate any wrongdoing from public officials. The District Attorney also said they’re committed to helping the community and won’t stop until they get to the bottom of this.
Right now, Truong is the only one who’s managed to post bond. It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out. What a crazy situation for a young mayor!
