Lucy Letby’s legal team claims new evidence could undermine her convictions for multiple murders of newborns
Chester: So, Lucy Letby’s lawyers are gearing up to drop some new evidence that they say could really shake things up regarding her convictions. It’s a big deal since she’s currently serving 15 life sentences for some pretty horrific crimes against newborns.
Her barrister, Mark McDonald, announced that they’ll be sharing these fresh developments at a conference on Monday. Apparently, over 50 experts in neonatology and statistics are stepping forward to challenge what was presented to the jury.
Just last month, Letby was denied permission to appeal her latest conviction for trying to murder a baby girl. This came after she had already been turned down for appealing her murder convictions. It’s been a tough road for her legal team.
And there’s more. Cheshire Constabulary has been looking into Letby regarding additional deaths and incidents at the hospitals where she worked. They’re reviewing around 4,000 cases of babies she cared for at the Countess of Chester and Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
