Michael Downey’s funeral highlighted his vibrant spirit and the community’s support during a difficult time
Lurgan: At the funeral of Michael Downey, everyone remembered him as the life and soul of the party. It was a heartfelt gathering, with hundreds of friends and family filling St Peter’s Church.
Michael, just 39, passed away unexpectedly on New Year’s Day. His funeral Mass was a true celebration of his life, with stories that made everyone smile.
The priest shared some funny tales about Michael, including his playful nature and competitive spirit. He even joked about how Michael earned 10p for every toe-tap until his dad realized he was racking up quite a bit!
Michael was deeply involved in local sports, both as a player and a coach. He was known for his pranks and lively personality, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
During the service, the priest emphasized how much Michael would be missed. The community has been hit hard by his loss, feeling a mix of grief and confusion.
