A major motorway closure follows the discovery of a deceased man, prompting a police investigation and appeals for witnesses.
Bolton: A major motorway was shut down for 12 hours after police found a man dead on the M61. It all started early this morning when officers got a call around 4:30 am about a man’s welfare.
When they arrived, they sadly discovered a deceased male on the southbound side at junction 6, near Middlebrook. Thankfully, it seems there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit and Bolton CID are working together on this case. They’re asking anyone who might have seen something or has dashcam footage to come forward.
If you have any info, you can call 0161 856 5757 and mention incident number 438 from today. Meanwhile, the M61 is still closed in both directions between junctions 6 and 5 while they sort everything out.
National Highways mentioned that they expect the road to reopen soon as crews are busy removing traffic management. Let’s hope it gets sorted quickly!
