Two individuals face charges related to the tragic death of Owen Baugh in a 2021 M62 crash
Manchester: Owen Baugh was riding his red Suzuki motorbike when he collided with a black Audi A4 on the M62. It was a tragic accident that happened just before 12:30 AM on April 25, 2021.
The crash took place on the westbound side between junctions seven and six. Owen, who was just 23, was rushed to the hospital but sadly passed away shortly after.
Fast forward nearly four years, and Merseyside Police have charged two people in connection with the incident.
Steven Naylor, a 40-year-old from Clock Face in St Helens, is facing serious charges, including causing death by dangerous driving.
He allegedly drove the Audi A4 dangerously, leading to Owen’s tragic death. There’s also a charge related to trying to mess with the justice process.
His partner, Lisa Naylor, 39, is also in trouble for her role in this. They both reportedly tried to claim that Steven was unfit to drive to dodge the charges.
They appeared in Liverpool Magistrates’ Court back in December, and now their case is moving to Liverpool Crown Court for a plea and trial prep hearing.
So far, they haven’t entered any pleas and are out on conditional bail until the next court date.
After the accident, the police reached out for witnesses, and Owen’s family shared a heartfelt tribute. They described him as a kind-hearted and caring person who always looked out for others.
They said he had a unique personality and made everyone feel included. Owen was truly a gem, and his loss is deeply felt by all who knew him.
His family summed it up beautifully, saying, “Rest in peace, Owen.”
