Two suspects face charges related to the tragic death of a motorcyclist in a 2021 crash on the M62
Manchester: Owen Baugh was riding his red Suzuki motorbike when he collided with a black Audi A4 on the M62. This happened on the westbound side between junctions seven and six, just before 12:30 AM on April 25, 2021.
Sadly, the 23-year-old was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after. Fast forward nearly four years, and Merseyside Police have charged two people in connection with the incident.
Steven Naylor, a 40-year-old from Clock Face in St Helens, is facing serious charges, including causing death by dangerous driving. The police say he drove the Audi A4 dangerously that night.
He and a woman, Lisa Naylor, 39, are also accused of trying to mess with the justice system. They allegedly claimed Steven was unfit to drive to dodge the charges.
Both appeared in Liverpool Magistrates’ Court back in December. The case has now moved to Liverpool Crown Court, where they had a plea and trial prep hearing on January 8.
Lisa Naylor pleaded not guilty to the charges against her, while Steven didn’t enter any pleas. A trial date has been set for November 10, expected to last about ten days.
They’re due back in court for another hearing on March 21 and have been granted conditional bail for now.
