Tilbury: A man had quite the wild ride early this morning. It all started when local officers spotted a grey BMW on the A127. They thought it might be stolen, so they tried to pull it over. But the driver had other plans and took off instead.

The chase was on! The BMW sped down the A13, hitting crazy speeds of up to 135 mph. Can you believe that? It zoomed through Chadwell St Mary and eventually crashed into a tree near Hume Avenue. Talk about a dramatic turn of events!

After the crash, the driver jumped out and tried to make a run for it. Luckily, officers who were nearby quickly caught up and arrested a 19-year-old guy from north London. Now, he’s facing some serious charges, including dangerous driving and taking a vehicle without consent.

Chief Inspector Julia Finch reassured everyone that the officers handled the situation safely and that there was no threat to the community. She also mentioned how important their training is, especially in this chilly weather. The investigation is now in the hands of the Southend officers. What a morning for everyone involved!
