A man has been arrested after two pedestrians were injured by a car during the London New Year’s fireworks celebration
London: So, there was this wild incident during the New Year’s fireworks. A man got arrested after two people were hit by a car that was swerving around.
The police got the call just after midnight, right at the junction of Primrose Hill Road and Regent’s Park Road. Apparently, the car hit one person and then sped off, only to hit another.
People were screaming and running away after the fireworks ended. Thankfully, the police said it wasn’t a terror-related event.
One of the victims, a 21-year-old guy, got hit but only had minor injuries and didn’t even need to go to the hospital. The other guy, a 59-year-old, was treated by paramedics and taken to the hospital, but his injuries were also not serious.
They arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving and some drug charges. The police were already in the area for the New Year’s Eve celebrations, so they found the car not too far from where the incident happened.
They confirmed that the first pedestrian was the younger guy who didn’t need medical help, while the older man was treated and his injuries were assessed as non-life changing. An investigation is ongoing, but they’re clear this isn’t being treated as a terrorist act.
