A Canadian man was detained at an Indian airport with a crocodile skull in his bag, violating wildlife protection laws
New Delhi: So, a Canadian guy got himself into some serious trouble at the airport. He was caught trying to sneak a crocodile skull in his luggage. Can you believe that?
This all went down at Terminal 3 of Delhi’s international airport. Customs officials stopped him during a routine check and found this skull wrapped up in a cloth. It had sharp teeth and looked like a baby crocodile’s jaw.
The skull weighed about 777 grams, which is pretty hefty for a souvenir, right? The authorities weren’t having any of it and arrested him for breaking India’s Wildlife Protection Act. They handed the skull over to the forest department.
Now, they’re looking into the whole situation. Apparently, the skull belongs to a species that’s protected under the law. The forest folks confirmed it was indeed a baby crocodile skull based on its features.
He was all set to fly back to Canada on an Air Canada flight when he got caught. A forest official mentioned that he bought the skull in Thailand. But here’s the kicker: he didn’t have the necessary permission to carry wildlife items.
Last year, a Canadian woman had a similar run-in at the same airport for carrying animal horns. It seems like this kind of thing happens more often than you’d think!
