A man has been found guilty of murdering his friend in a brutal attack in Redbridge, leading to a lengthy prison sentence.
Redbridge: So, there’s been a pretty shocking case that just wrapped up. A guy named Marius Ziugzda was found guilty of murdering his friend, Brian Shields, in a brutal attack.
This all went down in a park where the two were living in a disused pavilion. It happened back in October 2022, and it sounds like it was a pretty violent scene. The poor guy, Brian, was just 60 years old.
According to the court, Marius really went to town on him, hitting him multiple times. When the emergency services arrived, they found Brian unresponsive, and sadly, he was pronounced dead right there.
Marius claimed they were friends, but his actions tell a different story. He even approached the police at the scene, saying he had been with Brian the night before. But then he changed his story, which raised some eyebrows.
There were some suspicious marks on his hands, and CCTV showed him leaving the scene to buy drinks. It turned out that the red stains on his trousers were actually Brian’s blood. Yikes!
Witnesses reported hearing loud shouting from the pavilion, which helped the police piece together what happened. After all the evidence, Marius was found guilty and is set to be sentenced on February 13.
Detective Sergeant David Brooks from the Met Police said it was a tough case, but the hard work of everyone involved paid off. It’s a sad situation all around.
