Chingford: So, there’s this guy, Imran Chowdhury, who just showed up in court. He’s 25 and he’s not taking the blame for helping Daniel Khalife escape from prison.

Chowdhury appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court and said he didn’t help Khalife at all. Khalife, who’s 23, made a run for it from HMP Wandsworth back in September 2023.

Now, here’s the kicker: Chowdhury got arrested in January 2024. The police charged him in December for allegedly helping an escaped prisoner, which is a pretty serious deal.

During the hearing, he just confirmed his name and details. He was dressed in a white shirt and black jumper, looking pretty casual for court.

The judge, Briony Clarke, told him that this charge is too serious for the magistrates’ court. So, he’s got to go to Snaresbrook Crown Court on February 4.

For now, he’s out on bail but has to stick to living at his home in Parade Gardens, Chingford. Meanwhile, Khalife was found guilty of spying for Iran after a trial in November 2024.

He had already admitted to escaping from Wandsworth and was cleared of a bomb hoax charge. Quite the drama, right?
