London: A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Christmas Day when a car hit four pedestrians in the West End. Sadly, one of them, Aidan Chapman, 25, later died in the hospital.

The crash happened on Shaftesbury Avenue, and Aidan passed away on New Year’s Eve. His family is devastated, describing him as a loving and funny person who brought joy to everyone around him.

Police were alerted around 12:45 AM on December 25 after reports of a car driving on the wrong side of the road. Now, they’re treating Aidan’s death as a homicide, and a post-mortem will be conducted soon.

Anthony Gilheaney, 30, from Harlow, has been charged with attempted murder and other driving offenses. He’s set to appear in court again on January 24, and the charges will be updated following Aidan’s death.

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley expressed condolences to Aidan’s family and friends. He reassured the public that this was an isolated incident and not related to terrorism.

Authorities are asking anyone with CCTV, dash cam, or mobile phone footage of the incident to come forward. They’re keen to gather all the facts surrounding this tragic event.
