A man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally punching a gentle man over a karaoke dispute outside a pub in Swansea
Swansea: A tragic incident unfolded when a man named Christopher Cooper, 39, was sentenced to life in prison for killing a gentle soul named Kelvin Evans with just one punch. This all happened outside The Station Hotel last May.
Cooper felt slighted after his partner sang karaoke and shared a look with Evans. In a fit of rage, he followed Evans outside and struck him from behind. The punch knocked Evans out cold, and he sadly passed away a month later in the hospital.
After the attack, Cooper bragged about it, calling his fists “bad boys.” He was sentenced to life with a minimum of 16 years for murder. His partner, Catherine Tracy Francis, also got two years for helping him cover up the crime.
During the trial, Cooper showed no remorse and even shouted at the judge as he was led away. The judge described Evans as a beloved family man who was kind and fun-loving, emphasizing how cowardly Cooper’s actions were.
Evans’ family shared their heartbreak in court, with his mother expressing how she never expected to outlive her son. His ex-partner spoke of the deep loss and the nightmares that followed the tragedy.
The Crown Prosecution Service highlighted how one punch can lead to devastating consequences, reminding everyone of the senseless violence that can stem from trivial disputes.
