Marvin Geddes received a 48-month sentence after a dangerous collision with a police motorcyclist in Southampton
Southampton: A wild scene unfolded when a driver crashed a stolen car into a police motorcyclist. The driver, Marvin Geddes, 33, was caught on camera and has now been sentenced.
He got 48 months behind bars after pleading guilty to some serious charges, including dangerous driving. This all went down on July 2, 2024, when officers spotted his Honda Civic with fake plates.
Things escalated quickly. Geddes drove like a maniac, going the wrong way on roads and blowing through red lights. The police had to chase him, and it was pretty intense.
Footage from the police dashcam showed him slamming into PC Derek Hearn at high speed. After that, he crashed into another car before ditching his stolen ride and running off on foot.
PC Hearn shared how lucky he felt to have escaped without serious injuries. He emphasized that police officers shouldn’t have to face such reckless behavior while doing their jobs.
Superintendent Mark Lewis expressed his shock at the footage, stating that no officer should endure such violence. Thankfully, both PC Hearn and the other driver walked away without major injuries.
