A 35-year-old man from Newton Abbot has been sentenced to 18 years for multiple sexual offences against two women in Plymouth
Plymouth: A man from Newton Abbot, Ford Dixon, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for some really serious crimes. He was found guilty of raping two women he met online.
This all went down back in 2020, with the first incident happening in August. A woman reported to the police that she had been attacked and locked out of her home. When the police arrived, they found her in distress and Dixon was arrested nearby.
The second incident occurred in October 2020. A friend of another victim called the police after she disclosed that Dixon had assaulted her at her home. Officers found him still in the house when they arrived.
Dixon claimed everything was consensual, but the evidence told a different story. After a thorough investigation, he was charged in 2023 and faced a seven-day trial.
Detective Constable Andrea Dominik, who led the investigation, emphasized how Dixon targeted vulnerable women. She noted that he showed no remorse and that his actions have deeply affected the victims’ lives.
Both women showed incredible bravery throughout the investigation and trial. The police hope this case encourages other victims to come forward, assuring them that they will be believed and supported.
