A man with a record threw a bong at his girlfriend after accusing her of taking drugs, resulting in prison time.
She used her arms for protection, but the bong broke. This gave her bad cuts. Ustupski is 19 and already has a criminal record. He admitted guilt to wounding in court.
The incident occurred last November at a friend’s house. Ustupski was worried about missing pills. He pushed her against the wall and checked another woman’s purse.
Ustupski then grabbed the glass bong. He lifted it and threw it at her head, but she blocked it with her hands. The bong hit her arm and broke.
She got cuts on her arms and leg and was treated at a clinic. Police came to the scene. Ustupski claimed she fell, and she first agreed with him.
Later, she told police the truth, saying Ustupski threw the bong. She feared him showing up at her place and for her life. Ustupski has prior convictions.
His lawyer said he regrets his actions and barely remembers things due to being very intoxicated. His mother moved him before, trying to keep him from gangs.
The lawyer stated he improved in jail and is now drug-free. The judge said drugs hurt Ustupski’s life and he’s developing a bad record.
The judge believed drug use caused it, despite his mother’s attempts to keep him away. He seems drawn to bad influences and disappointed his mother greatly.
The judge told him to think seriously about his future now. He must avoid drugs or face more prison time. Ustupski got 14 months in prison, and the court issued a 10-year restraining order.
