Take That’s Mark Owen has evacuated his LA home due to wildfires, as his wife shares a touching video of their experience amid the chaos.
Los Angeles: Mark Owen, the Take That star, had to leave his home in LA because of the wildfires. He woke up to a scene filled with helicopters, thick smoke, and howling winds.
California is facing some serious wildfires that have forced thousands to flee their homes. Areas like Malibu and Hollywood Hills are hit hard, and it’s pretty devastating.
Sadly, officials say five lives have been lost, and over 1,000 homes have been destroyed. More than 70,000 people have had to evacuate, according to reports.
With a state of emergency in place, firefighters are battling the flames on streets that used to be glamorous. But they’re struggling with water shortages and strong winds that make it tough to control the fires.
Mark and his wife, Emma, are among those who’ve been told to find safety. Emma shared on Instagram that they’re safe but can’t believe what’s happening. The winds and lack of water have made the fire spread incredibly fast.
She expressed her heartache, saying they woke up to chaos and uncertainty about their home’s survival. She wished she had packed better, even just grabbing their kids’ baby shoes would have meant something.
Emma also mentioned that many have lost everything, including pets, and the situation is still ongoing. There are three active fires nearby, and they’re running low on water to fight them.
Before they evacuated, Emma told her followers that there was no water left for firefighting efforts, and planes had to stay grounded due to the winds. She asked for prayers as the fires continue to rage.
Dozens of fires are reported across the region, with some now covering over 25,000 acres. The smoke is even visible from space, according to NASA.
With a state of emergency declared, all resources are being used to control the fires. President Biden has stepped in, approving more aid and directing the Department of Defense to help with firefighting efforts.
He thanked the National Guard for their support and mentioned that Navy helicopters are on their way to assist in the firefighting efforts.
