A Metropolitan Police detective has been dismissed for engaging in non-consensual sex with a woman he met on a dating app
Brighton: So, there’s this shocking story about a Met Police detective who got fired for some really serious stuff. Detective Constable Kamal Baldeo was found to have had non-consensual sex with a woman he met on Hinge. Can you believe that?
The misconduct panel looked into what happened and found that he had sex with her at a Travelodge, even after she clearly said she didn’t want to. It’s just awful. The incident took place back in May 2021, but it’s only now that the panel made their ruling.
Initially, they had a date and things were fine, but the next morning, she told him she wasn’t interested in going further. She even said, “What did I say, I said it’s not happening.” But he pushed back, asking if he could just do it once. That’s when things went downhill.
She felt completely frozen and reported it to the police right away. The panel said what happened was “factually akin” to rape, which is just heartbreaking. Baldeo denied everything, claiming she had consented, but the panel didn’t buy it.
They pointed out that there was no clear consent from her side. Plus, she told her friends and the police right after it happened, which made it seem unlikely that she would lie about it. In the end, they decided he was guilty of engaging in sex without her consent.
So, he was dismissed from the police force without notice. It’s a tough situation, and it shows how seriously these matters are taken, even if it’s not a criminal court case.
