A Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed following serious sexual assault allegations made by a woman in a hotel room
Brighton: So, there’s been quite a shocking incident involving a Metropolitan Police officer. This guy, Detective Constable Kamal Baldeo, got sacked after some serious allegations came to light. Apparently, he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a Travelodge hotel room.
It all started back in May 2021 when he met a woman, referred to as “Ms A,” through the dating app Hinge. They went out for some food and drinks, and then headed back to his hotel room. Things got a bit steamy, and they engaged in some consensual activities. But then, things took a turn.
During their time together, Ms A made it clear she wasn’t interested in full sexual intercourse. She even said “yes it would” when he asked if it mattered if they had sex. But the next morning, he allegedly pushed for penetrative sex without her consent, which she firmly rejected.
After Ms A reported the incident, a criminal investigation was launched, but no further action was taken against him. Baldeo admitted to having sex with her but insisted it was consensual. However, the misconduct panel found otherwise.
They concluded that he did indeed penetrate her without consent, despite her repeated refusals. The panel stated that he breached police standards and dismissed him without notice. Detective Chief Superintendent Clair Kelland emphasized how seriously they take such allegations, highlighting the courage it took for Ms A to come forward.
It’s a tough situation, and it’s good to see that the police are taking steps to hold their officers accountable.
