A mother was shocked to discover her colleague had thrown away her personal belongings after returning from sick leave
London: A mum was pretty upset when she got back to work after being off sick. She found out that a colleague had tossed all her stuff from her desk.
When she returned from the Christmas break, she discovered that even though most of the items were just handwritten notes, some were really special to her. They included her son’s GCSE timetable and reminders for important appointments.
She shared her experience on Mumsnet, saying, “I came back to work after the holidays and a few weeks off sick, only to find that one of my colleagues had thrown away all my papers.”
She explained that it was mostly personal notes about her kids’ appointments, holiday plans, and school calendars. It was all stuff that meant a lot to her, and she liked having it on her desk.
When she asked her colleague about it, he casually said he had “got rid of all the crap.” She felt really disappointed and a bit angry, but he thought it was no big deal. She admitted, “I know I’m a bit of a softy, but this was MY stuff.”
Some folks on Mumsnet questioned why her colleague was even using her desk. One person commented, “Why is he at your desk? That was really rude of him!”
Another user said, “I’d be really mad too. It doesn’t matter what it was; it wasn’t his to throw away.”
Someone else pointed out that if it’s a shared desk, it’s best to keep it tidy and store personal papers at home. They suggested she keep important notes in drawers next time to avoid this situation.
They added, “I’m sorry it got thrown away, but if it’s a desk used by others, it should be kept clear of personal stuff.”
