A man, 38, died from a stabbing in Rochdale, leading to a murder arrest on New Year’s Day as police investigate the incident.
Rochdale: A man was arrested on suspicion of murder after a tragic stabbing on New Year’s Day. It all went down around 2:30 AM on Sussex Street.
The victim, a 38-year-old guy, suffered a serious knife wound during a disturbance. He was found nearby on Essex Street and sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Another man, who’s 30, was also hurt and taken to the hospital. Thankfully, police say they’re not looking for anyone else connected to this targeted attack.
Specialist detectives from GMP’s Major Incident Team are on the case. They’ve set up a murder investigation and have arrested a man in his 30s.
Throughout the day, police focused on two main areas. They had a forensics tent up on Essex Street and another spot on Milkstone Road, where a paramedic’s bag was left behind.
Detectives are urging anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to come forward. They want to hear from anyone with footage, like doorbell or dashcam videos, that might help.
Detective Inspector Paul Davies expressed his condolences to the victim’s family, calling it a tragic incident. He emphasized that even small bits of information could be vital for the investigation.
