Residents and businesses in Weston-super-Mare can breathe easy as the source of a mysterious smell has been found and addressed
Weston-super-Mare: So, there’s been this weird smell bothering folks in Weston-super-Mare, right? Well, good news! They’ve finally figured out where it’s coming from. A local leader has assured everyone that they should be able to enjoy fresh air again.
This smell, which people described as pretty unpleasant, has been popping up in both homes and businesses. Cllr Ciaran Cronnelly, who represents the Winterstoke ward, has been on top of it. He even got the Environment Agency involved to get to the bottom of the issue.
The stinky situation was traced back to a waste and recycling company running an anaerobic digester near the Hutton Moor roundabout. Cllr Cronnelly mentioned that they did a leak detection survey and found some minor leaks. Thankfully, those have been fixed recently.
He’s keeping an eye on things, too. More surveys and monitoring will happen to make sure the smell doesn’t come back. If anyone catches a whiff of that odor again, he encourages them to reach out to the Environment Agency. They have a 24-hour hotline for reporting issues, so help is just a call away!
