The family of Alistair Wilson expresses gratitude after meeting with First Minister John Swinney regarding the ongoing murder investigation.
Nairn: The widow and son of Alistair Wilson, who was murdered over 20 years ago, are feeling really thankful after meeting with First Minister John Swinney. They had a chance to share their concerns about the ongoing investigation into Alistair’s murder.
Veronica and Andrew Wilson met with Swinney, and it was a big deal for them. They appreciated him listening to their worries, especially since Police Scotland’s Chief Constable Jo Farrell hasn’t been willing to meet with them.
After the meeting, Veronica expressed her gratitude, saying it was nice to have someone in a position of power take the time to engage with them. She mentioned how different it was compared to the Chief Constable’s refusal to meet, which they found quite insulting.
Andrew also shared his feelings, saying it was good to highlight the issues surrounding his father’s unsolved case. Growing up with this hanging over him has been tough, and he echoed his mom’s frustration with the police’s lack of communication.
Douglas Ross, their local MSP, was also supportive. He called the meeting a positive step and hoped it would help push the investigation forward. He criticized the Chief Constable for not meeting with the family, saying it was disrespectful.
Chief Superintendent Suzanne Chow reassured the family that they are committed to finding justice for Alistair. She emphasized the importance of building trust with the family during this ongoing investigation.
