Join the National Speed Management Review at Vine Centre to discuss speed limits and road safety in Scotland on January 22
Falkirk: The National Speed Management Review event is happening at the Vine Conference Centre on January 22, from 3 PM to 7 PM. It’s organized by Transport Scotland, and it’s a great chance for folks to get involved.
These events are popping up all over Scotland. They’re all about making sure our speed limits are safe and sensible. The goal is to cut down on injuries and fatalities on the roads.
People can ask questions about the idea of lowering the speed limit on single carriageway roads from 60 mph to 50 mph. It’s a big change, and they want to hear what everyone thinks.
There’s also talk about raising speed limits for larger vehicles. For instance, they’re considering bumping the limit for goods vehicles over 7.5 tonnes from 40 mph to 50 mph on single carriageways, and from 50 mph to 60 mph on dual carriageways.
Transport Secretary Fiona Hyslop emphasized that road safety is a top priority for the Scottish Government. They’re aiming to make Scotland’s roads the safest in the world by 2030.
She mentioned that there’s been a huge response to the online consultation. These in-person events are a chance for people to learn more and share their thoughts.
According to the National Speed Management Review, changing speed limits could really help reduce injury collisions while keeping travel times reliable.
