Residents express concerns that a new home for two vulnerable kids could negatively impact their mental well-being and community peace
Sheffield: Neighbours are really worried about plans for a new home for two vulnerable kids. They think it might mess with their mental health.
The Sheffield City Council gave the green light for this home on Waltheof Road, close to Manor Fields Park. Even though some locals sent in letters of objection, the council went ahead with the plans.
These letters raised worries about noise, anti-social behaviour, and how it could affect the community’s mental well-being. But the council believes the home will help the kids transition smoothly.
Harmany Havens Supported Living Limited will turn a three-bedroom townhouse into a place for kids aged 10 to 18. There will be four carers on duty, working in shifts to provide support.
According to the council, the home aims to offer medium to long-term placements, which should help reduce disruption for everyone around. Plus, they assured that there won’t be any changes to the building’s exterior, so it’ll look the same from the outside.
It’s a tough situation, balancing the needs of the kids with the concerns of the community. Everyone hopes for the best outcome.
