A new community hub in Newton Aycliffe aims to support vulnerable residents with essential services and resources.
Newton Aycliffe: Exciting news! The Lifeline Community Action Hub is officially underway. After years of hard work from the local policing team and partners, they’re finally making it happen.
This hub will be a go-to spot for anyone needing help, advice, or just a friendly face. It’s set to open in the old Woolworth’s store on Beveridge Way, which is pretty central and easy to find.
Sergeant Andy Boyd shared that this project has been in the works for six years. He’s really proud of what they’ve accomplished, especially with the support from Lifeline Community Actions.
He mentioned how Newton Aycliffe has so many great community groups but lacked a central place to bring them all together. This hub will change that, making it easier for people to access the help they need.
With over £900,000 in funding from the government and donations, they’re ready to roll. The hub will also have a space for police officers, so they can be there when needed.
Pauline Chambers from LCA is thrilled about the new space. She said it’ll allow them to help even more people, not just in Newton Aycliffe but across the whole County Durham area.
They’re currently looking for donations to help furnish the place and still need to raise an extra £150,000 to finish everything up. If you want to pitch in, you can reach out to them directly.
Everyone involved is super excited about what this hub will bring to the community. It’s all about making a difference and supporting those who need it most.
