A New Jersey man is accused of murdering his fiancée just one day after proposing to her in a Facebook video
Elizabeth: A shocking incident unfolded in New Jersey. A man named Jose Melo, who’s 52, is accused of stabbing his fiancée, Naket Jadix Trinidad Maldonado, just a day after he proposed to her in a Facebook video.
On December 29, Melo shared a heartfelt video where he got down on one knee and asked Maldonado to marry him. He even said “Te amo,” which means “I love you” in Spanish. It was a sweet moment, and the crowd cheered as she accepted the ring.
But the very next day, tragedy struck. Maldonado was found dead at their home in Elizabeth. The authorities charged Melo with first-degree murder, and he also faces charges for possessing a weapon unlawfully.
It’s unclear how long they had been together or what led to this horrific act. Melo has a troubling past, having been registered as a sex offender after a previous assault in 2010.
Maldonado’s family is heartbroken. They set up a GoFundMe page to help with expenses, describing her as a loving mother of two. Her aunt shared that this senseless act has left her daughters without either parent.
Funeral services are planned in Florida, and she will be laid to rest in Puerto Rico. As of now, the community has rallied to raise nearly $28,000 for her family.
