New Orleans: Investigators are working hard to figure out who else might be involved in that tragic truck attack on New Year’s Day. A guy drove a rented pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street, killing 15 people and injuring many more.
The main suspect, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, was shot dead during the chaos after he opened fire on police. It’s a real mess, and now authorities are looking into whether he acted alone or if others were involved.
There are even whispers about a possible link between this attack and an explosion that happened later in Las Vegas. That incident involved a Tesla Cybertruck outside a Trump hotel, which also resulted in a death.
Some reports say Jabbar might not have been the only one behind the attack. The FBI is chasing down leads, especially focusing on his known associates. They’re not taking any chances.
Louisiana’s attorney general mentioned that there are likely multiple people involved, but there’s still some confusion about how many were actually part of the attack.
The attack happened just after 3 AM when the French Quarter was packed with New Year’s revelers. Jabbar drove his truck through the crowd, hitting people and even shooting at police officers before he was killed.
He was decked out in body armor and had an Islamic State flag in his truck. The FBI is treating this as a potential act of terrorism, which is pretty serious.
They found guns and what looked like homemade explosive devices in the truck and around the area. It’s all very concerning.
Authorities believe some of these explosives were made at a rented Airbnb in New Orleans. There was even a house fire linked to the event where they think the IEDs were being put together.

Interestingly, both the truck used in the New Orleans attack and the one in Las Vegas were rented through a car-sharing app. The company is cooperating with the investigation and says the renters didn’t have any criminal backgrounds.
