This shocking incident happened around 3:15 a.m. on Bourbon Street, a popular spot for celebrations. Witnesses described the chaos as the vehicle sped into revelers, and then the driver reportedly opened fire on police.
Authorities say the suspect acted with clear intent to harm. After the crash, he engaged in a shootout with officers, injuring two, who are now stable. The FBI is on the case, investigating the presence of an improvised explosive device found at the scene.

New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick emphasized the suspect’s deliberate actions, stating he was determined to cause as much damage as possible. Most of the victims were locals, not tourists, which adds to the tragedy.
