Wyre Forest District Council has approved plans to convert Abbeyfield House into four flats despite local objections
Kidderminster: So, Abbeyfield House on Birmingham Road is getting a makeover. The council just gave the thumbs up to turn it into four new flats. Pretty exciting, right?
But not everyone is on board. Six locals voiced their concerns on the council’s planning site. They’re worried about parking and traffic getting worse with more people moving in.
Right now, there are only four parking spots for the residents. One person mentioned that parking is already a hassle, and adding more flats could make it a nightmare.
Another local chimed in about the school traffic making things even trickier. They feel the area is already packed, and four more flats might just be too much.
Previously, there was a plan to turn the building into six flats, but that got shot down. The council thought it would be too crowded. This new plan, though, seems to have passed the test.
The council said this proposal is more reasonable and fits better with their development guidelines. The planning officer noted that the changes made in design and layout helped sway their decision.
