West Berkshire Council receives plans for a revamped café in Victoria Park, featuring sustainable designs and community-friendly features
Newbury: Exciting news for the Victoria Park Community Café! Plans have been submitted to West Berkshire Council to give the café a fresh look.
The idea is to transform the current sports pavilion and kiosk into a modern café. Newbury Town Council is behind this initiative, aiming to make the park even more inviting.
Gary Norman, the council leader, shared that they want to create a sustainable and accessible spot that everyone can enjoy. The community is really on board with this idea, wanting a cozy place to relax and meet up.
Victoria Park has already seen some great upgrades, like a refurbished bandstand and a new football pitch. These changes set the stage for even more improvements.
To keep things eco-friendly, the café will feature photovoltaic panels for energy and an air-source heat pump. This means it’ll have a low carbon footprint, which is awesome!
Councillor Roger Hunneman mentioned that the design will make the café more accessible for everyone, including those with health issues. There will be easy entryways and proper facilities for all.
Plus, they’re adding a semi-open pergola to enhance outdoor dining. It’s all about connecting with nature while enjoying a nice meal or drink.
