A man has died after a stabbing incident in Rochdale on New Year’s Day, prompting a police investigation into the targeted attack
Rochdale: A man lost his life in a shocking stabbing incident early on New Year’s Day. The police got a call about a disturbance on Sussex Street around 2:30 AM.
Sadly, a 38-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a serious knife wound. His family has been notified by the Greater Manchester Police.
The area was quickly cordoned off, with a forensic tent set up to gather evidence. Nearby Essex Street was also blocked off as it was connected to the attack.
Another man, aged 30, was seriously hurt and taken to the hospital, but thankfully, he’s in stable condition now.
So far, police believe this was an isolated and targeted attack involving just two people. They’re not looking for any other suspects at this time.
Photos from the scene show a heavy police presence, including Crime Scene Investigation vans and paramedic equipment scattered around.
Detective Chief Superintendent Neil Jones mentioned that they’ve launched a murder investigation following this tragic event. He expressed his condolences to the victim’s family during this tough time.
While no arrests have been made yet, police are still seeking information from anyone who might have seen or heard anything related to the incident.
They’re especially interested in any video footage from doorbells, dashcams, or mobile phones that could help piece together what happened.
