The North East faces major disruptions as heavy snowfall forces businesses and attractions to close for safety reasons
Beamish Museum had to announce on Sunday that they couldn’t open because of the snowy conditions. They said it was a tough call, but safety comes first. They even mentioned that anyone with pantomime bookings would get an email with more info.
Mainsgill Farmshop also took to social media to let folks know they were closing for everyone’s safety due to the heavy snowfall and road closures.
The weather is really making things difficult. Rural areas are hit the hardest, with some people getting cut off because of the snow. Reports say that in higher spots, snow could reach up to 40cm!
Transport is a mess too. The A1 has seen delays and some parts are closed because of ice and snow. Buses and trains are also facing cancellations, so it’s best to check before heading out.
To top it all off, there are power outages affecting thousands of homes in County Durham and Teesside. It’s a tough time for everyone in the area.
