Emergency call handlers in North Wales will move to Ty Elwy in St Asaph. The relocation will improve call handling, with modern facilities.
They will join the 111 team at Ty Elwy, in St Asaph. The move will happen in late spring, following a year and a half of work.
The team will handle calls quicker at Ty Elwy and will have a gym. Training facilities are also on-site, supporting their well-being.
The 111 team moved to Ty Elwy in 2022. People have been planning the 999 team move for eighteen months to ensure a smooth transfer.
The 999 call center’s conditions are not good. The new center provides modern facilities, and this is happening in phases.
The move should increase call handler capacity. Staff will benefit from great facilities, and the trust keeps Welsh-speaking handlers, allowing people to contact them in Welsh.
They have also enabled staff to work from home, and some will work at other trust locations. The new center will enhance teamwork, as it’s near police and fire services, helping the multi-agency response.
